Puzzle Prototype

Created:

This is a prototype I made for the week of August 23, 2014 using Unreal Engine 4. This is the first of a series of 4 weekly prototypes. UE4 is designed to make much better looking games, this prototype is like using a Ferrari to learn how to drive.

Download:

Windows 64 (41mb)

Probably need DirectX installed. This is my first UE4 package so I don’t know if it works on other machines, and I only have one Windows machine.

Android APK (57mb)

Only tested on Nexus 5. So it probably runs awful on most Androids, but it runs great on Androids with a nice Tegra GPU.

The design is based off of a puzzle my parents bought me as a kid. And I miss that puzzle, but I remember the solution. My Dad mentioned it was based on “grayscale binary” years ago, and I remember wondering all these years what that meant. Then I found on Wikipedia the article about Gray Code and realised that it was the solution after all. So if you get stuck, then just count up in ‘Gray Code Binary’.
